We specify stone in the light of the room, not from a swatch. A carved marble wall is allowed to be loud only if everything around it is quiet — doors, the media wall, the kitchen, the line of light in the ceiling.
Junctions, grain direction, and maintenance are part of the drawing. The graze is set so the relief reads as water rather than as ornament stuck to plaster. Opposite, a full-height drape closes the room so the stone can carry it.
This is material as structure. The palette stays tight: marble, lacquer, glass, linen. Colour, when it appears, is used once.
